SCMotW 2/7: Staying Well

It's a snow day at Promise Clinic today! Since that means we won't have a Team of the Week for next week, we decided to save those juicy questions and answers to post for next week. Instead, we will bring your our Steering Committee Member of the Week profile that I forgot to post earlier this week since the M1s have been studying for our Endocrinology Exam!

In case you didn't know, also, February is Student Wellness Month! We'll be featuring some wellness-related questions from our Steering Committee Members and Student Doctors. 

This week we have  Alyssa Huncken, an M4 on Specialty Care! She's currently almost nine months pregnant-- when we got her answers she hadn't given birth yet. As far as I know that's still true! She also prefaced her answers by saying she hasn't been as healthy as she usually is-- what, with cravings and all.

1) What's your favorite thing to do to stay well?
Alyssa Huncken (M4): "I really love cooking and try to make home made meals as much as possible. Eating healthy is so much more enjoyable (and easy) when you prepare it yourself."

2) What's your favorite form of exercising?
Alyssa Huncken (M4): "My favorite form of exercise is walking my dog. You don't need to be in a gym to exercise!"

3) What does wellness mean to you?
Alyssa Huncken (M4): "Wellness is so much more than eating healthy and exercising. Wellness is also about happiness and loving yourself inside and out. Mental health and well being is just as important as physical and they affect each other greatly."
