Promise Clinic 10th Year Anniversary Gala

Happy 2016 Everyone!

On November 20th, H.I.P.H.O.P Promise Clinic held its 10th Year Anniversary Gala to celebrate a decade of service by our students and the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical faculty. The Gala was organized by a student logistics committee headed by Niall Buckley, along with the efforts of Alexa Melucci, Gaby Ghobrial, and Nikhil Yegya-Raman.

The gala, held at the Rutgers Zimmerli Museum and catered by Elijah's Promise Catering, welcomed 190 students, alumni, faculty and staff, and featured student musicians from the Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts, and distinguished keynote speakers:
  • Promise Clinic co-founder Manuel Jimenez, MD, MSHP, assistant professor of pediatrics and family medicine and community health
  • Promise Clinic co-founder John Babineau, MD, assistant professor of pediatric emergency medicine, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York
  • H.I.P.H.O.P. co-founder, Jeffrey Brenner, MD, executive director and founder, Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers

In its 10 years of existence, Promise Clinic has endeavoured to provide free, high quality primary care to the medically underserved of New Brunswick. By utilizing a novel team-based, longitudinal model that incorporates faculty, staff, as well as community and interdisciplinary partners, Promise Clinic is dedicated to increasing access to healthcare services at every level. This is no easy task in this rapidly changing healthcare climate that prominently feature ever-rising medication and lab prices.

Thanks to the help of our community sponsors and generous donors, Promise Clinic was able to raise over $23,000-- enough money to cover the costs of our patients' care for nearly two years! The proceeds from this fundraiser will also lay the groundwork for long-term sustainability efforts.

We have come a long way together since 2005 and there is still more to improve, more to build. Thank you for supporting Promise Clinic and being a part of our vision!
